Sometimes I come upon a subject that inspires many repeat visits. This meadow, on a property once owned by artist/naturalist/writer Ernest Thompson Seton, is one such place. It is a deceptively simple scene, but the subtleties of texture and rhythmic forms speak deeply to me. A covering of snow gave more dynamic tonal range to the foreground and brought out features I hadn't noticed on the first try. Changing light created challenges that required more time in the studio to resolve, which also resulted in a more refined finish than usual.
