Across Plum Gut, afternoon

I was "artist-in-residence" for a week this summer at Great Gull Island, a tern nesting colony owned and managed by the American Museum of Natural History.  I spent the week sketching terns as well as painting the landscape.  This was the view toward the west end as the sun began sinking in that direction, tinting everything in its warm glare.
