Gannet Weather

This painting was primarily inspired by my first glimpse of these incredible pelagic birds, from a ferry to Block Island under less-than-ideal sailing conditions!  I've seen them many times since, even in the calm waters of the Long Island Sound not too far from land, but I still link them with grey skies and foaming waves- "Gannet weather".

"Gannet Weather" is part of the 2013 "Birds In Art" exhibit at the Woodson Museum in Wausau, WI, and the subsequent tour.
