This was one of a series of paintings digitally enlarged as murals in an exhibit about evolution at the Bruce Museum in Greenwich, CT. This is the right half of the section dealing with marine life of the mesozoic, including creatures from the Cretaceous Period. Fossils from this time range are well known in the American midwest and were the source for my reconstructions. Included in this scene are both long and short-necked plesiosaurs, the diving bird Hesperornis, and a Mosasaur attacking a large filter-feeding fish.
This painting was selected for "Focus On Nature XII", a biennial show of scientific illustration at the New York State Museum in Albany, NY, from April through December 2012, and is now a part of their permanent collection.
